Chennai Super Kings have clearly not got the start to the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League as they would have wanted. The team lost their third match in a row against Punjab Kings on 03rd April. The batting has been fragile for the team and it was evident with the way the batsmen performed in their third match. Though the yellow army lost the match, former captain MS Dhoni’s act of fair play during the match is winning the hearts of people online.

MS Dhoni’s act of fair play is winning praise

MS Dhoni has been garnering a lot of attention for his knocks in the first two games. He was not as good with the bat in the third game but his agility and athleticism were on display in the match against Punjab Kings. The former CSK captain is receiving a lot of praise for the act he did during the game. The CSK wicketkeeper asked for the third umpire’s help after he was skeptical of a catch he pouched.

The incident happened in the 8th over of the Punjab Kings inning when Liam Livingstone was batting fluently on 45 runs. Pretorius bowled a delivery down leg and Livingstone tried to guide it to the fine leg boundary, however Dhoni with his proactive mind, dived and pouched the ball. He caught the ball but was not sure whether the catch was clean, so he asked for the help of the third umpire.

The replay showed that the ball was touching the ground and Livingstone had a close escape. MS Dhoni’s act of fair paly has been getting a lot of attention and netizens are applauding Dhoni’s honesty and the spirit of sportsmanship. Unfortunately, CSK lost the game by a huge 54 runs as their batsmen couldn’t build partnerships and fell rather quickly. Shivam Dube looked in fine touch as he scored a half-century, but all the other batsmen got out cheaply.

Chennai Super Kings need to sort out all the issues they are having with their batting. They have already lost all the 3 matches they have played so far. It is important for them now to get on the winning side or it will be really difficult to catch up with the other teams and break into the Top 4.
