Bangladesh vs Afghanistan World Cup 2023 clash on October 7 witnessed a hilarious incident as Mujeeb Ur Rahman forgot to wear his abdomen guard while he came in to bat. Mujeeb’s silly mistake left Bangladesh players in splits and the Afghanistan spinner was then mocked by Liton Das during their first game in the marquee tournament.
The Afghanistan opening pair of Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran provided them a steady start. However, their middle order faced a collapse after which Mujeeb Ur Rahman walked in to bat quite early leading to a blunder.

Bangladesh off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz dismissed Rashid Khan on the second delivery of the 35th over as Afghanistan were placed at a score of 151-7. Mujeeb Ur Rahman quickly padded up and came in to bat at the number 9 position.
However, amidst the batting collapse, Mujeeb forgot to wear the abdomen guard and realized his mistake just before facing the first delivery. He then signalled to the dressing room to bring out his abdomen guard.
The Bangladesh fielders saw the funny side of it as they couldn’t hold on to their laughter after witnessing the hilarious incident. Bangladesh opening batter Liton Das walked up to Mujeeb and mocked him for his silly mistake.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman awkwardly wore the abdomen guard as he knew he was the center of attraction after the blunder he made. He eventually faced just 4 deliveries and scored a solitary run before getting dismissed by Mehidy Hasan Miraz in the 37th over leading the Hashmatullah Shahidi-led side into deeper trouble.
In the next over, Shoriful Islam got rid of Naveen-ul-Haq as the Afghanistan side were bundled out for a mere 156 runs allowing Bangladesh to be in the driver’s seat. Keeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz was the highest run-getter as he scored 47 runs off 62 deliveries while all other batters failed to contribute enough.
