Sri Lanka are locking horns with Pakistan in the first of the two-match Test series and the Test opener is currently being held at Galle International Stadium, Galle. The cricket fraternity witnessed three days of constant cricketing action from both teams, pushing it to the fourth day.

As things stand, Pakistan seemed to have got a cutting edge over Sri Lanka and have a great opportunity to draw first blood in the series. Batting first, Sri Lanka posted a pretty decent total of 312, courtesy of Dhananjaya de Silva’s impeccable 122 (12 fours and 3 sixes) and Angelo Matthews’ 64 (9 fours). The likes of Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah and Abrar Ahmed took three wickets apiece.

In response, Pakistani players showcased incredible resistance by posting 461. Pakistan’s batting all-rounder Saud Shakeel hogged the limelight as he chipped in with an unbeaten 208. He constructed his valuable innings with a flurry of 19 fours. Agha Salman looked good for his 83 runs where he struck nine fours and a six to his credit.

Earlier, during Pakistan’s innings, a bizarre incident happened on Day 3, which became a major talking point on social media. It was one incident that left the fans, players and commentators rolling in the aisles. Sri Lankan bowlers took nine wickets and were searching for that one last wicket. During Pakistan’s last-wicket partnership in the 120th over of the innings, Abrar Ahmed nearly survived being run out.

Ramesh Mendis who has been the best bowler for Sri Lanka in the first innings bowled a sharp turner to Pakistan’s tailender Abrar Ahmed. The tail-ender tried his best to defend the ball but was taken aback by the sudden turn of the ball. The red cherry then went on to hit his gloves before getting stuck in his pad.
