In the Cricket World Cup 2023 league game between New Zealand and Netherlands, Daryll Mitchell smashed a straight shot which dismantled the stumps at the non-striker’s end. After the ball struck the wickets rapidly the bowler Paul van Meekeren thanked Daryll Mitchell for not hitting him in place of the stumps.
The talented Dutch fast bowler is making his mark in the prestigious tournament since their first match against Pakistan. The 30-year-old didn’t hesitate taking a beef with Pakistan’s quickest fast bowler Haris Rauf in the first match and now he has come up with another entertaining act on the field in the second game.
Paul van Meekeren is a spicy and entertaining character on the field and so far the player has managed to catch a lot of eyes because of his cocky nature.
The 30-year-old made every in the stadium hold their stomach with his humorous act which was caught on camera.

During the first innings of the game, Daryll Mitchell and Tom Latham were stepping onto the gas to power Kiwi innings to something close to 350. In the 39th over of the game, Paul van Meekeren was introduced into the act to break the partnership between Latham and Mitchell.

Meanwhile, Daryll Mitchell hammered a full-length delivery bowled by van Meekeren straight down the ground. The ball came at a rapid pace towards van Meekren so the bowler only had time to put his leg away from that bullet straight drive.
The shot was so powerful that it uprooted the non-striker’s wicket. However, the hilarious act took place afterwards when Paul van Meekeren straight away joined both of his hands and thanked Daryll Mitchell for not hitting him.
However, on the very next over of his spell he dismissed Mitchell with a pacy good length delivery which dismantled his stumps.

The Kiwis have yet again shown form at the right time by kick-starting the World Cup campaign on a high. After handing England a crushing defeat in the tournament opener they have marched past the Netherlands with ease at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium.
While asked to bat first they posted a mammoth total of 323 runs on board with the combined effort of the batters. Bowler’s collective effort then managed to bundle out the Netherlands on just 223 runs which secured them another convincing win by 99 runs.
