Friday’s ODI between India and West Indies saw the Rohit Sharma-led outfit register a resounding 96-run win to clinch the series 3-0.
The hosts had plenty of positives to take from the series, especially in the form shown by some of the younger players. Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna- the latter of whom went on to end up as the man of the series- stepped up brilliantly in the absence of India’s senior pacers. Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, and Shreyas Iyer also spent some quality time out at the crease. Suffice to say, the unit has identified a whole bunch of upcoming stars to build the team around on.
Rishabh Pant comes good in the 3rd ODI
24-year-old wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant could also find a mention in the aforementioned list of players; though it could be argued that he has been around for a while now to be considered a ‘newcomer’. Nonetheless, his timely knock of 56 runs in the final ODI came just at the nick of time, and allowed India to recover from a poor start.
But while Rishabh’s on-field pyrotechnics in the 3rd ODI were quite commendable; off the field, he seems to be enjoying himself a tad bit too much. Prior to the game, a video of the players’ training session showed Rishabh trying to have some fun at the expense of his captain, Rohit Sharma.
The video featured all the players doing some kind of warm-up exercise, like some light jogging, kick-ups, or walking. Rishabh, much like his teammates, was also seen doing some kick-ups; except he decided to act a bit playful and pretended to kick Rohit on the chest while going about his routine!

Rishabh Pant pranks Rohit Sharma; captain left unamused
For the first couple of seconds, Rohit seemed a bit taken aback and looked genuinely confused. But in the moments that followed, the Indian captain was seen beckoning to his glovesman and teaching him a lesson. It was all in good humor and nothing serious, and in the end, Rishabh even went to touch Rohit’s feet as a mark of respect.

All we can say is, Pant should learn not to mess around with his skipper; especially after his verbal volley to Yuzvendra Chahal in the last match.
This comment from Twitter user Ayush looks at Pant’s actions from a darker and more serious perspective. Could this really be a sinister plot from Pant to emerge as the team captain? Only time will tell.
Pant be like 'rohit ko injured kar deta hun, rahul waise bhi nhi khel raha toh captain main ban jaaunga'.
