Saint Lucia Kings defeated Barbados Royals by 54 runs in the second game of CPL 2023 on August 18 at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in St. Lucia. In the SLK vs BR game, all-rounder Rahkeem Cornwall suffered an embarrassing run-out after which he was slammed by netizens over his fitness.
The Saint Lucia Kings side posted a mammoth total of 201-6 on a batting-friendly St. Lucia wicket. Rahkeem Cornwall came in to open the innings along with Kyle Mayers in a pursuit to chase down the massive target.
Rahkeem Cornwall’s run-out in CPL 2023 breaks internet
Right-arm pacer Matthew Forde started off the proceedings with a wide delivery as he missed his line. Forde then bowled an inswinging delivery which was heaved away off the pads towards short fine leg by Cornwall.
Chris Sole made a fumble at short fine leg as the two batters looked to steal a cheeky single. However, Sole recovered pretty quickly and aimed at the non-strikers where Cornwall showed no sense of urgency to complete the single.
Sole hit the bull’s eye while Cornwall kept jogging on the pitch and could not reach the crease in time leading to an embarrassing dismissal. Rahkeem Cornwall’s run-out in CPL 2023 allowed netizens to criticize the West Indies all-rounder over his fitness.

Meanwhile, Rahkeem Cornwall’s run-out in CPL 2023 highlighted a persisting concern surrounding his fitness. Many former West Indies players have advised the all-rounder to better manage his weight and improve his fitness levels that can help him deliver consistent performances.
Talking about the game, the Barbados Royals could never after losing Cornwall on the very first delivery of the game. Star batter Kyle Mayers was dismissed after scoring just 16 runs while skipper Rovman Powell was dismissed for a duck.
Young all-rounder Nyeem Young remained the lone warrior as he smashed 48 runs off just 39 deliveries. However, he didn’t get enough support from other Barbados Royals’ batters.

They eventually fell short by 54 runs of the Saint Lucia Kings total as they could just score 147 runs in their 20 overs. Matthew Forde was the star with the ball as he took 3 crucial wickets and gave away just 12 runs.
