During the World Cup game between Afghanistan and England, the in-form opening batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz was livid after his dismissal. The batter was playing some crisp strokes in the middle before he was stranded out of the crease in an attempt to steal a single away from a place where there wasn’t any.

The Afghani opener was looking in a sublime touch at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday and was on his way to scoring his first-ever World Cup hundred. He made 82 on just 57 deliveries with four sixes and 8 boundaries against a quality English bowling lineup.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz missed his well-deserved century courtesy of a bizarre runout call by captain

While Afghanistan was in their rebuilding phase after they lost 2 quick wickets in a succession of just 8 runs they lost another one in the name of Gurbaz. The right-handed opening batsman was toying with the bowling lineup of the defending champions before he got out due to a miscommunication between the captain Hashmatullah Shahidi who just came to the crease.

Gurbaz was on the non-striker end when Shahidi misjudged a single run for which Gurbaz paid the price. After tapping the ball to short mid-wicket Shahidi left his crease and tried to steal a tight single knowing Gurbaz would be in the danger end.

The fielder stationed at Mid-wicket (David Willey) quickly threw the ball towards Buttler who collected the ball safely and removed the bails while Gurbaz was well short of his ground even after an athletic diving effort.

His teammates didn’t say a word to him and gave him space to calm down inside the dressing room. However, might face some disciplinary charges for breaking the stadium property on purpose which the player needs to bear.
