Samit Dravid, the son of the legendary Rahul Dravid, is following in his father’s footsteps. The 18-year-old is currently in his first professional stint in the ongoing KSCA Maharaja Trophy. Samit was signed by the Mysore Warriors franchise for ₹50,000. He is a right-handed batsman, playing in the No. 4 position in the T20 league.

In his second match of the season, Samit Dravid grabbed attention by showcasing his hitting skills. When everyone expected Samit to have a batting style similar to his father Rahul Dravid, he surprised everyone with a Rohit Sharma-like approach. On August 16, in the match against Bengaluru Blasters, Samit Dravid picked up a good-length delivery and dispatched it into the stands.

Samit had just arrived at the crease as the Warriors lost their second wicket within 5 overs. Despite the pressure, Samit went for a big hit and succeeded. However, he couldn’t capitalize much in the innings as he was dismissed in the next over, scoring 7 runs off 7 balls. Nevertheless, the six he hit will definitely give the young batter confidence for the upcoming matches.

Though Samit Dravid grabbed attention for his six, he hasn’t had the start he had hoped for. In his 2 matches so far, Samit has scored 14 runs, and his team, Mysore Warriors, has lost one of the two games. However, with 8 more matches left to play, Samit Dravid will be hoping to improve his performance.

Samit Dravid, born in the T20 era, appears to have a different technique than his father, Rahul Dravid, who specialized in Test cricket. Samit first came into the spotlight when he played a 250-ball knock of 201 runs in an U14 tournament in 2019. Later, he represented Karnataka in the Cooch Behar Trophy during the 2023-24 season, amassing 362 runs in 8 games.
