Afghanistan’s star bowler Rashid Khan is one of the better fielders of the Afghanistan Team as well.
Time and again he has proved his worth on the field due to his agility and athleticism.
Rashid produced one such brilliant effort on the field in the game against Australia but couldn’t succeed and ended up giving six runs.
Rashid Khan’s brilliant fielding effort goes in vain
Rashid Khan showed his athletic fielding skills during the 18th over of Australia’s innings which was bowled by Fazalhaq Farooqi. Farooqi bowled a slower angled across delivery to the dangerous-looking Glenn Maxwell who swiveled around to send the ball over the deep midwicket boundary.
Rashid came running towards the boundary, and caught it with both his hands but couldn’t maintain the balance near the boundary rope. The leg spinner then tried to flick it back inside the boundary rope so as to save some runs for his side but failed to do so. He ended up throwing the ball on his trailing foot and it fell beyond the boundary rope Maxwell eventually got six runs.

The explosive Glenn Maxwell didn’t stop here as he went on to score an unbeaten 54 off just 32 deliveries with two sixes and six fours and took Australia to a competitive total of 168 runs despite losing partners on the other end. He got some support from Mitchell Marsh who played a crucial knock of 45 runs off just 30 deliveries while hitting a couple of six and three fours.
The Australian team did play the spinner trio of Rashid, Mujeeb, and Nabi well but the pace duo of Naveen-ul-Haq bowled exceedingly well as they shared five wickets amongst themselves while giving away just 50 runs off their 8 overs.
Australian bowlers came out strongly as they knew the team needed a win with a huge margin. They didn’t allow easy boundaries in the powerplay but Gulbadin Naib fought well and scored a 23-ball 39 and then Rashid almost took Afghanistan towards the Aussie total as he scored 48 runs off just 23 deliveries. Eventually, Australia managed to win by just four runs and kept their hopes alive for the semifinals.
