Chennai Super Kings defeated Mumbai Indians by 7 wickets at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 8 courtesy of a brilliant fielding display. CSK all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja unintentionally pulled off one of the best catches of IPL 2023 off his own bowling as he dismissed MI all-rounder Cameron Green.

After losing skipper Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav, Mumbai Indians were expecting Cameron Green to form a solid partnership along with Tilak Verma. However, Ravindra Jadeja’s caught and bowled changed the complexion of the game.

After dismissing Ishan Kishan in his first over, Jadeja was brought in again to bowl the 8th over of Mumbai Indians’ innings. Jadeja bowled a full delivery outside the off-stump which was smashed back with full strength by Cameron Green.

Jadeja was in protection mode as he hoisted his hands up but his brilliant reflexes actually helped him grab onto the catch. Cameron Green couldn’t believe his luck as he had to take the long walk back into the pavilion.

After Ravindra Jadeja’s brilliant caught and bowled, it was on-field umpire Chris Gaffaney’s reaction that caught the eyes of cricket fans. Cameron Green had played the shot with immense power and was traveling straight in the direction of umpire Chris Gaffaney.

He immediately ducked trying to ensure that he did not get hurt by the ball. Ravindra Jadeja’s brilliant reflexes not only allowed him to grab one of the best catches of IPL 2023 but also saved Chris Gaffaney from getting hurt.

After the dismissal of Cameron Green, the CSK spin duo of Mitchell Santner and Ravindra Jadeja dominated the Mumbai Indians’ innings. The Indian all-rounder finished with the figures of 3 for 20 while Santner scalped a couple of wickets while giving away just 28 runs.

Chennai Super Kings lost Devon Conway in the first over after which they sent Ajinkya Rahane who was playing his first game for the CSK franchise to the number 3 position. Ajinkya Rahane smashed a quick-fire 27-ball 61 as CSK chased down the total with 11 deliveries remaining.
