Watch: Riley Meredith takes a stunning catch after the ball slips from Peter Handscomb’s hands

Peter Handscomb juggled the catch towards Riley Meredith, who dived to take a one-handed stunner.

The 11th edition of the Big Bash League has been full of marvellous moments. From Sean Abbott’s stunner to Ben McDermott’s back-to-back centuries, this year’s BBL has been nothing short of excitement and thrill.

Adding to the list of best catches of the tournament, Riley Meredith took a blinder to get a prized wicket of Mackenzie Harvey. In the match between Hobart Hurricanes Melbourne Renegades, Harvey went back to the pavilion for a golden duck, courtesy of a superman effort from Meredith.

As the delivery edged towards Peter Handscomb at the first slip, he jumped in the air to grab the ball but failed in his attempt. However, Handscomb’s teammate Riley Meredith was there to cover his mistake as the latter dived right to pull off a miraculous one-handed catch.

The catch left everyone in a state of disbelief as Meredith ran towards other players to celebrate his herculean effort. Bowler Thomas Rogers at first reacted as if the ball had been dropped but joined the celebration from the moment he got to know about the stunning catch.

Talking about the match, Melbourne Renegades opted to bowl first. However, the decision did not pan out in their favour as their bowlers were way off the radar. Having an off day, bowlers bowled at the wrong lengths and let Hobart’s batsman score 206 runs in 20 overs. Ben McDermott scored another century and has emerged as the biggest match-winner for the Hurricanes so far in the season.

The Renegades did not impress with the bat either. Chasing at a big total, their batsmen were never in the game and got decimated, courtesy of the scoreboard pressure. They got all-out the score of 121 and lost by 85 runs.
