Mumbai Indians kick-started their IPL 2024 campaign with a narrow defeat over Gujarat Titans at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The five-time IPL champions led by Hardik Pandya had the game in their hands but they let the opportunity slip away from their hands. On the contrary, Gujarat Titans’ bowlers stuck to their subtle bowling variations of line and length, which saw them mounting searing pressure on the MI batting line-up.
Hardik Pandya and Co. lost the momentum in the game and ended up losing the game by a whisker of 5 runs. Shubman Gill who has no prior experience in captaincy at the domestic or international level churned out his first win as Gujarat Titans captain as GT bagged a hat-trick of wins over MI in Ahmedabad. After the game, Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya were involved in an argument, an incident that became a talking point.

The incident started when MI captain Hardik Pandya hugged the former MI captain Rohit Sharma from behind the back after the team’s narrow defeat. Soon after that, Rohit Sharma was seen explaining something seriously about the game to Hardik Pandya. Apparently, the former MI skipper was unhappy at certain things that didn’t go in their favour as he was seen echoing his views to Hardik Pandya.

On the other hand, MI skipper was also seen responding to Rohit Sharma as the entire video clip garnered traction among the fans on social media. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians owner Aakash Ambani and GT player Rashid Khan who witnessed this scene in close proximity decided to move away from that place. Talking about the game, batting first, GT posted 168/6 in their allotted quota of 20 overs, courtesy of Sai Sudharsan’s 45.

Jasprit Bumrah bowled quite brilliantly as he registered 3/14 in 4 overs for Mumbai Indians. Although MI gave everything in the run-chase, they lacked the killer instinct to ace the run-chase as they fell short of the target. Rohit Sharma played superbly well as he chipped in with 43 off 29 whereas MI’s Impact player Dewald Brevis top-scored with 46 off 38 balls. MI will play their next game against SRH in Hyderabad on March 27, Wednesday.
