Team India’s ever-reliable batter Cheteshwar Pujara is known for his cautious approach on the crease as he usually anchors the innings for the Men in Blue. However, Pujara surprised cricket fans on Day 2 of the third test between India and Australia as he slogged a monstrous six over mid-wicket and made Rohit Sharma smile in a rather tense situation.

Team India found themselves in a spot of bother against Australian off-spinner Nathan Lyon who looked unplayable on a tricky Indore pitch. Cheteshwar Pujara was trying to make a partnership with all-rounder Axar Patel in order to bring Team India close to a safe target after losing the first seven batters in a quick succession.

Both Pujara and Axar were cautiously blocking Australian bowlers while getting a few runs here and there. Skipper Rohit Sharma wasn’t quite happy with the defensive mindset of the two Indian batters and quickly sent a message with Ishan Kishan during the drinks break and asked them to show some intent against the Aussie spinners.

Cheteshwar Pujara reacted positively to his skipper’s message as he stepped out on the third delivery of the 55th over of Team India’s innings, got to the pitch of the good-length delivery bowled by Nathan Lyon and launched a mighty six over the mid-wicket region.

Right after the ball cleared the boundary rope, the cameraman focused on Rohit Sharma and the big screens showed Rohit boasting a big smile on his face. A video of the incident went viral across social media platforms as Pujara delivered what his skipper had asked for.

Pujara starred in 2nd innings

Cheteshwar Pujara played a heroic knock of 59 runs and remained the lone warrior for the Men in Blue in the second innings of the third test. Pujara didn’t get much support from the other end as Team India kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Australian skipper Steve Smith took an absolute stunner at the leg-slip as the Indian batter tried flicking Nathan Lyon’s delivery.
