After winning the T20I series with quite ease, team India locked horns with England in the first match of the 3-match ODI series in Kennington Oval. The match turned out to be an out-and-out one-sided affair as team India thrashed the English team by 10 wickets. While the chase was a cakewalk, there was a moment in India’s chase which received a lot of attention as Rohit Sharma’s six hits a young girl in the stands.

After winning the toss, the Indian skipper opted to bowl first and the bowlers spat fire from the word ‘Go’. Half the England team was back in the hut even before the first powerplay got over as the Indian bowlers were in their element. Chasing an easy target of 111, the Indian openers were clinical in their approach and during the process, Rohit Sharma’s six hit a girl who was in the stands.

The Indian skipper looked in great touch as he set off to chase a small target of 111. The batsman played his pull shots freely and looked at ease while pulling the ball. It was during the fifth over that the incident happened where Rohit Sharma’s six hit a small Indian fan. The third delivery of the over by David Willey was a tad too short and Rohit swivelled across to hook the ball which hit the young Indian fan.

Rohit Sharma’s six which hit the young girl stopped the match for a bit but things resumed after it was conveyed that there was nothing serious. The Indian skipper met the girl after the match and gave the little girl a chocolate and this gesture by the Indian captain is winning the hearts of the fans. Team Indian attained an easy victory in the first ODI and are now leading the 3-match series by 1-0.
