Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) finally opened their account with a win over Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Indian Premier League. The Lucknow-based franchise lost all four previous meetings against GT ever since making an entry into the IPL in the 2022 season. At last, they broke the shackles and found out a way to come out on top as they won the game by 33 runs at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

During the 21st game, an unusual incident happened which annoyed GT captain Shubman Gill in the first place. Gill was totally unhappy with the way how the third umpire made a judgement without checking the ultra-edge technology. The youngster lost his cool and even fought with the umpires for making a reckless call during the very first over of LSG’s innings, an incident that became a talking point in the cricket fraternity.

Shubman Gill involves in a heated tussle with on-field umpire

Umesh Yadav got rid of experienced batter Quinton de Kock for 6 runs in the fourth ball of the first over. In the subsequent delivery, the right-arm paceman outsmarted Devdutt Padikkal as the ball went on to hit the pad. Soon after that, the GT players appealed in unison in the hope that it would be an LBW. As it turned out, the on-field umpire gave his judgement in the favour of the batter.

Meanwhile, the GT players were pretty much confident about their appeal and which is why they decided to go for a review. The third umpire who reviewed the decision, eventually gave the judgement in favour of the batter even after the replay depicted that the ball had hit the Padikkal’s willow before hitting the pad.

The third umpire, in question, is Nitin Menon who carelessly gave a call without even the checking the UltraEdge. The UltraEdge technology spotted the big deflection off Padikkal’s bat. As a result, GT captain Shubman Gill argued with the umpire for not checking the Ultra-Edge before making a final judgment.
