WATCH: Shubman Gill unleashes raw emotions at Umpire’s controversial call during IPL clash against SRH

In the game of cricket, at times, emotions can get the better of the players, and that’s exactly what happened in the recently concluded game between Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad. GT captain Shubman Gill found himself caught in a moment of real frustration at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad

It all went down in the last ball of the 13th over of Gujarat Titans’ innings. Jos Buttler tapped a ball from Zeeshan Ansari toward the short fine leg region and called for a quick single. Meanwhile, Harshal Patel sprinted in, picked up the ball smoothly, and threw it sharply to the striker’s end.

As it turned out, SRH wicketkeeper Heinrich Klaasen was right in front of the stumps and tried to flick the ball onto the stumps with his gloves in the first place. It looked incredibly close, so the decision went to the third umpire.

Here is where the confusion started – did Klaasen’s gloves break the stumps, or was it the ball? After watching several replays from different angles, TV umpire Michael Gough decided it was the ball that hit the stumps. As a result, he pointed to a small change in the ball’s direction after it brushed the gloves as proof.

But Shubman Gill wasn’t buying it. He stood on the field, clearly stunned. His face said it all, as he didn’t agree with the decision in the first place. With no choice but to walk off, he headed back to the dugout after he smashed 76 runs off just 38 balls, with the help of 10 fours and 2 sixes.

Talking about the game Gujarat Titans posted 224 for the loss of 6 wickets in their allotted quota of 20 overs Shubman Gill was the top run-getter for the team. Jos Buttler scored 64 off 37 balls with the help of 3 fours and 4 sixes.

On the other hand, Jaydev Unadkat was the pick of the bowlers for Sunrisers Hyderabad, as he took three wickets to his name, giving away 35 runs in 4 overs. On the other side of the coin, Sunrisers Hyderabad put up a fight in the run chase, but that wasn’t enough for them to chase down the target as they ended up at 186 for 6 in 20 overs.

Abhishek Sharma was the pick of the batters for the Hyderabad-based franchise as he scored 74 off 41, including 4 fours and 6 sixes, at a strike rate of 180.49. Unfortunately, he didn’t get a great deal of support from the other end before SRH fell short of the target in the run-chase.
