Steven Smith is known for his unorthodox stroke-making and precise gap-finding. On the 4th day of the 2nd Ashes Test, he invented a new short in the cricket dictionary.

English fast bowlers were trying to remove the first innings centurion Steve Smith from the crease and thus they made a short ball plan against him. Robinson was constantly bowling shoulder-length deliveries to Smith and one of them was very well directed straight on its chin height.

Smith was in two minds he didn’t have much to think about so he channeled the inner tennis player inside him. The best test batsman of the generation slapped the ball from a very awkward position right onto the mid-wicket.

The bowler Ollie Robinson couldn’t control his laughter and he kept looking at Steve Smith who was floored. The batter himself was laughing at his unusual shot which made him fall onto the pitch.

Australia still on top despite getting all out on 279

The Aussies have dominated throughout this test match with the bat. However, the Day 4 play favored the English bowlers but Australia still managed to stretch their lead to 370 runs.

England bowlers made a gameplan of bumpers and made Aussies a taste of chin music. Australian batters seemed to have no answer to the bouncer barrage by English bowlers.

At the later end of the Australian innings, the Injured spinner Nathan Lyon came onto bat hobbling which got applause from the crowd. However, his brave effort didn’t last long as he got out on 4 runs.

Stuart Broad picked 4 wickets in the innings of the new commer Tongue and also made an impact with 2 wickets in his column.
