Watch: Temba Bavuma gets angry at Virat Kohli’s throw, former Indian captain hits back at Proteas batter

The former Indian captain and the South African skipper had a verbal exchange during the first inning of the first ODI.

After losing the Test series against South Africa by 2-1, team India faced off with the Proteas in the first ODI at Paarl. Both the teams battled on the field to gain a 1-0 lead in the 3-match ODI series and it was South Africa who were the happier side by the end of the game. During the game, a heated moment caught the fancy of the viewers as Temba Bavuma gets angry on Virat Kohli’s throw.

The South African skipper opted to bat first and the Indian pacers looked in good rhythm as they contained the opposition batsmen. However, the duo of Bavuma and Van Der Dussen didn’t allow the Indian bowlers any wicket from the 18th over till almost the end of the inning. it was during South Africa’s inning when Virat Kohli and Temba Bavuma had a heated exchange on the field.

Temba Bavuma gets angry over Virat Kohli’s throw

The incident took place on the 4th delivery of the 36th over of the first inning when the South African skipper was batting fluently with his partner Van Der Dussen. Bavuma hit the ball towards the short cover region and the ball was collected by Kohli, who threw the ball fiercely back to the keeper with Bavuma in its way. The batsman had to duck in order to avoid the throw and engaged in a verbal spat with the former Indian captain regarding the same.

Temba Bavuma scored a century for his team along with Van Der Dussen who also scored the second century of his ODI career. Team India was given a target of 297 which looked fairly easy when Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli were batting together. They notched-up a partnership of 92 runs, but no other batsman could replicate the same and, in the end, the lower order had too much to do.

With the victory, the South African team has got a 1-0 lead and the Indian team really need to pull their socks up if they want to make a comeback in the series and win the remaining two matches.
