Australia is on top of the hosts in the 3rd test despite the valiant effort of Indian bowlers on the morning of Day 2. Umesh Yadav’s brilliant piece of reverse swing bowling sent half of the Australian team to the pavilion inside 11 runs. After India’s horrific day with the bat yesterday, they looked totally ineffective with the ball as well. Australian opener Khawaja and the number 1 batter in the world Marnus Labuschagne formed 96 runs partnership together for the 3rd wicket. The partnership sent the hosts on the back foot and they needed quick wickets.
Jadeja removed three of the key players of the Australian batting lineup in quick succession. The first five Aussie batters contributed 186 runs to the team’s total rest of the 5 managed to score only 11 runs courtesy of Umesh Yadav’s reverse swing.
Umesh Yadav sends Mitchell Starc’s off-stump flying
Back in the day, Mitchell Starc used to clean up the tailenders with his ferocious pace and pinpoint yorkers. Umesh Yadav did the same on the morning of day 2 while Aussie tailenders were batting.
Umesh in his rapid spell took the wickets of Mitchell Starc, Todd Murphy, and Cameron Green inside 9 runs. The wickets of Starc and Murphy were artwork as the off stump went cartwheeling on both wickets.
Ashwin helped Umesh in bowling out Aussies as early as possible and he picked Nathan Lyon and Alex Carey and Peter Handscomb.

Despite the gritty efforts of Indian bowlers in the morning Australians on top
Australia’s collapse on the morning of Day 2 was overshadowed by their bowlers. The amazing figures of 8-64 Nathan Lyon by Nathan Lyon restricted the Indian innings to 163 runs. Chesthwar Pujara showed his temperament once again in a tough situation but an amazing catch by Steven Smith ended his innings on 59 runs.
Lyon didn’t let the Indian batter breathe during the whole day as he bowled 23 overs. His second-best career figures shifted the game completely towards the Australian side.
Now Australia only needs 75 runs to win the match on day 3 when they come on to the bat. The margin of runs for the Indian bowlers is very little. If India needs any miracle to happen then they have to remove the top 3 as early as possible.
The match will be decided in the morning session of day 3.
