Indian Premier League’s playoffs began with an absolute bang as Gujarat Titans faced the Rajasthan Royals on 24th May at Eden Gardens. Gujarat Titans won the match and placed themselves in the berth for the finals. On 25th May, Royal Challengers Bangalore battled it out against the Lucknow Super Giants for the eliminator in the Eden Gardens. Despite losing the toss, RCB were looking pretty confident when they came to bat first.
LSG’s bowlers were looking feisty as they started their innings with an early wicket of RCB skipper, Faf du Plessis. Faf went on a golden duck which looked no good for RCB. Kohli and the new-in batter Rajat Patidar slowly and steadily kept the scoreboard running up until when the run machine was caught by Mohsin Khan in the 10th over by Avesh Khan. On the other hand, Rajat Patidar looked like a professional when dealing with the bowlers of the Super Giants.
Rajat kept his wicket strong and scored a brilliant century in just 49 deliveries, the fastest century this season, and led RCB to a humungous total of 207/4. Dinesh Karthik also was a great helping hand in the total that was brought up by RCB.
Lucknow Super Giants tried their best as they came in from a loss in the match. LSG had high hopes from the openers as Quinton De Kock and KL Rahul were in a good form. They couldn’t add up much to the score as De Kock was caught in mid-off by Du Plessis. KL Rahul played a brilliant inning of 79 in 58 deliveries but that also could not help de-stabilise the RCB’s will to win. RCB won the match with 14 runs still in their bag.

IPL is just not complete without their fans. Playoffs were also being played with a hundred per cent capacity as the pandemic was seen at a downfall. Every now and then fans try to jump in and disrupt the match just out of their love for the players. One such incident happened in the eliminator which was played last night. A fan was seen barging into the ground just to meet his favourite cricketer.
