Rajasthan Royals trumped Royal Challengers Bangalore to hand RCB and their fans yet another heartbreak this year

The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League is going to end on 29th May with the final between Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals. The Rajasthan camp outclassed Royal Challengers Bangalore in Qualifier 2 to enter their second final. During the match, there was a heart-warming moment as Virat Kohli wins fans’ hearts by refusing to take runs on an overthrow.

The high-voltage and the penultimate game of the IPL 2022 was played between Rajasthan and Bangalore in Narendra Modi Stadium. While RCB came into the match after a win, Rajasthan entered the field after being defeated by Gujarat in Qualifier 1. However, they were dominant in the all-important game and stormed into the final. The match witnessed a soothing incident where Virat Kohli wins fans’ hearts.

The moment involving Kohli came in the very first over of the match when Trent Boult was on attack. The second delivery of the over was tucked to the right of square leg by Kohli. Buttler who was fielding in that region put in a dive to stop the ball and fired a sharp throw which went to long-off off the bat of Kohli. It was at this moment when Virat Kohli wins fans’ hearts as he refused to take any run on the overthrow.

As for the match, the Rajasthan bowlers kept a lid on Bangalore’s scoring as they didn’t allow any freebies and kept things tight. RCB’s inning was restricted to a below-par total of 157 owing to disciplined bowling by Prasidh Krishna and Obed McCoy, both accounting for 3 wickets each. In reply, Rajasthan got off to a flying start as both their openers toyed with RCB bowling.

Ultimately, the match was won by Rajasthan by 7 wickets which included a century by Jos Buttler; his fourth of this season. Rajasthan were clinical in the game and it was yet another heartbreak for RCB and their fans as they failed to win the trophy this year as well.
