WATCH: Virat Kohli’s Naagin Dance During Bangladesh Test Goes Viral

On Sunday, India secured a historic victory in Chennai. The Rohit Sharma-led side defeated Bangladesh to claim their 179th win in Test cricket history. With this, India now has more Test wins than defeats (178) for the very first time. Before this, India had always been behind in the number of wins compared to losses in Test cricket.

The hero of the match was R Ashwin, who scored a hundred in the first innings and took a 6-wicket haul in the final innings. Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill also contributed with centuries in the second innings, and Jasprit Bumrah played a crucial role as well. However, Virat Kohli didn’t make much of an impact in this game, scoring a combined 23 runs across both innings and thus staying out of the headlines.

Virat Kohli’s Hilarious Naagin Gesture During IND vs BAN Test in Chennai

On the third day of the match, though, Kohli grabbed the crowd’s attention. While fielding, a spectator captured him making a “Naagin” gesture towards the crowd. The gesture was likely a playful nod to the Bangladesh side, who have been humorously called “Team Naagin (snake)”.

The association between Bangladesh and the “Naagin” dance began during the Nidahas Trophy in 2018, when they celebrated their victory over Sri Lanka with the now-famous Naagin dance. However, the celebration backfired when Sri Lankan fans mocked the Bangladesh team with the same dance after their defeat in the tournament’s final against India.

Since then, a lasting rivalry has emerged, with fans and social media users frequently using the Naagin dance reference to taunt and humiliate the Bangladesh team.

alking about the ongoing series, the second Test is scheduled to be played in Kanpur from September 27. As it is the final match of the series, Bangladesh can now only aim to level the series, while India will be looking to secure a 2-0 victory and further strengthen their position at the top of the WTC table.
