WATCH: Will Jacks falls victim to unfortunate dismissal in RCB vs SRH, IPL 2024 match

Will Jacks gets dismissed in an unlucky manner at the non-striker's end.

The cricket fraternity has witnessed unfortunate dismissals during the passage of play. During the recently-concluded game between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad, Will Jacks fell prey to an unlucky dismissal at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. It was one thing that the batsman wouldn’t have even expected it in the first place as things happened all of a sudden or in the blink of an eye.

In an extremely high-scoring encounter, that saw batsmen taking the bowling attack to the cleaners, it just wasn’t Will Jacks’ day as he was dismissed in an unfortunate way during the penultimate ball of the eighth over. Jaydev Unadkat bowled a good length delivery to RCB captain Faf du Plessis and the senior pro tried to hit the ball down the ground. As it turned out, he didn’t time it properly before he ended up getting a bottom edge.

Will Jacks in total disbelief after his unlucky dismissal

Jaydev Unadkat who had his eyes on the ball tried to stop the ball in the first place. As it happened, the ball quickly made a connection to his right hand before it went on to hit the stumps. Unfortunately, Will Jacks who was just outside the crease in a fast-paced encounter was run out and had to make his way back to the dressing room. The video clip of the same has gone viral and Jacks departed for 7 off 4.

Had it not been for Jaydev Unadkat’s deflection, it would have been an different story altogether. Apart from Will Jacks, even RCB captain was frustrated with the unlucky dismissal. Talking about the record-breaking encounter, as many as 549 runs were scored on the match day. Batting first, SRH posted 287/3 in their quota of 20 overs, courtesy of Travis Head’s 102 off 41 balls (9 fours, 8 sixes) whereas Heinrich Klaasen scored 67 off 31 (2 fours, 7 sixes).

On the other side of the coin, RCB gave absolutely everything in the run-chase before they fell short of the target. Despite the fact that SRH bowlers leaked too many runs, there were some patches they kept the RCB batters in check and eventually churned out a 25-run win. Dinesh Karthik played superbly well for RCB as he chipped in with 83 off 35 balls (5 fours, 7 sixes) whereas Faf du Plessis scored 62 off 28 balls (7 fours, 4 sixes).
