Why there is no IPL match today: RCB vs KKR match postponed

After two KKR players tested COVID positive, BCCI has decided to reschedule RCB vs KKR match.

On 3 May 2021, fans are tuning in to Star Sports to watch KKR vs RCB match but the channel is not showing any match. This is very unusual as the match was scheduled to play today. The viewers are asking the questions; why there is no IPL match today? So here we will let you know why BCCI cancelled RCB vs KKR match which was supposed to play at Ahmedabad today.

Why there is no IPL match today?

As we know, players undergo the COVID test before every match. Two KKR players have been tested positive for COVID-19. Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrior are the latest victims of the virus. However, it is uncertain how both players contracted the disease. As the virus has entered the team’s camp all the KKR players and staff members will isolate themselves.

IPL officially announced that they have postponed the match and it will be rescheduled to another date. So, this is the reason why there is no IPL match today. However, the news may not make any effect on tomorrow’s match between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Three CSK Members also tested positive

But, another news came from Delhi which has doubled the trouble of BCCI. Two members of CSK staff and the bys cleaner of the team bus have been tested positive for the virus. The team’s bowling coach Lakshmipathy Balaji is one of the 3 members. CSK has to play their 7th match of the season against Rajasthan Royals on the 5th of May. BCCI has to take a hard call on the upcoming match.

Dark clouds are hovering over the ongoing Indian Premier League season. So far 29 matches have been played during this season and 37 more league matches with 4 additional playoffs and final match are yet to play. As the covid spike in the country is going up day by day, the league is facing backlash. Some of the players have left the season due to family concerns. It will be interesting to see what decision BCCI will take as the virus has hit the league.
