Virat Kohli’s record-breaking run continues in World Cup 2023. In the match against South Africa, the Indian batter etched history by equalling Sachin Tendulkar’s 49 ODI Centuries record. The knock became more special as it came on his birthday. Meanwhile, the Cricket fraternity is wishing Virat Kohli to reach the milestone. Amid, an Indian journalist brought the topic in front of Sri Lanka captain Kushal Mendis who was attending press conference ahead of their match against Bangladesh. However, Mendis didn’t appreciate the topic being raised during the SL vs BAN match conference.

The journalist informed Kushal Mendis about Virat’s achievement and asked him if he would like to congratulate him. The Sri Lankan skipper gave a confusing reaction, chuckled, and mocked the reporter saying ‘Why would I congratulate him.’

Some fans stood by Kushal Mendis, saying you can’t make someone praise your favorite player. But his comment was not well-received by most of the Netizens. Virat Kohli’s fans criticized Mendis, thinking he might be jealous of Kohli’s success. Others said he could be upset after facing a humiliating defeat against India at Wankhede. Here’s the video.
