The inaugural WIPL is expected to kick off in the first week of March in Mumbai. BCCI is looking for a new revolution in women’s cricket through the introduction of Women’s IPL. The tournament will open the gate for aspiring women cricketers in the country.
Till now women’s IPL has shown a positive result as it has gained 951 crores by selling the media rights to Viacom 18.
When is the Women IPL auction?
The Women IPL will take place on the 13th of February (Monday). The auction will begin at 2:30 PM (IST) and the live stream for the event is available.
How many players will take part in the WIPL auction?
409 players are shortlisted by BCCI who will take part in the auction. Among the 409 players, 246 are from India and 163 are overseas. To increase the popularity of the game in Associate nations 8 players are picked from those countries.
Teams participating in the WIPL 2023
It will be a 5 team tournament in which each team will face the other twice. The 5 teams are Mumbai Indians women’s team, Royal Challengers Bangalore women’s team, Delhi Capitals women’s team, Gujarat Giants, and UP Warriorz.
How many players can a team pick in their squad?
Each team can pick players between 15-18 in their squad of which seven players can be overseas.
What is the Base price of players in WIPL?
The marquee players had the opportunity to choose their base price. The highest base price value is 50 Lakhs and the minimum is 10 Lakh.
Uncapped players will have a base price of 10 lakhs.
What will be the purse value allotted to each team?
Each team will be allotted 12 Crore INR in their purse for the shopping of players.
