Sanjiv Goenka has found himself facing criticism on social media platforms since the video of his outburst on KL Rahul surfaced. The incident occurred after LSG’s 10-wicket defeat against SRH. The conversation between the LSG owner and skipper is not known, but the video left a negative impression of the Goenka Group chairman. Visibly frustrated in the video, the LSG owner appeared displeased with KL Rahul’s performance. Fans believe it’s inappropriate for him to dictate to the team captain what he should do.

Virender Sehwag criticizes Sanjiv Goenka’s behavior towards KL Rahul

Virender Sehwag, the former India opener, shares the same point of view on the incident. Sehwag criticized Sanjiv Goenka’s behavior with KL Rahul, expressing that it’s not his job to manage the team on the field. The cricket expert emphasized that ultimately, Goenka is making a profit through the IPL.

“The owner’s role should be that when they meet the players in the dressing room or during a press meet, they should only talk to motivate them. But if the owner comes and asks, ‘What is going on? What’s the problem?’ or gets hold of one of the team management members and starts to raise questions about a particular player…see the coaches and the captain run the team, so it is better for these owners not to get involved with players or get angry with me,” said Virender Sehwag.

“These are all businessmen. They only understand profit and loss. But here, there is no loss, so what’s bothering them? You are earning a 400-crore profit. I mean, this is a business where you have to do nothing at all. You have guys to take care of that, and irrespective of what happens, you are earning profit. So your work should only be to motivate the players,” Sehwag further added.

Goenka’s behavior might not be appropriate; but, clouds of elimination are looming over Lucknow Super Giants after their 10-wicket defeat against SRH. The KL Rahul-led side is currently standing at number 7 on the points table with the remaining two games against Delhi and Mumbai being must-win clashes. LSG needs to win their last two league games, and they will hope for RCB to beat CSK.
