Team India’s legendary opener Sunil Gavaskar has come up with a special request to Sourav Ganguly.

Both Ganguly and Gavaskar are known for their love for the game of Football.

‘Find that shirt which Henry had signed for me’: Sunil Gavaskar asks Ganguly

The veteran opening batter has been a keen follower of the English football club Arsenal. Both Gavaskar and Ganguly were part of the post-match discussion after the 1st day’s play of the 2nd Test between India and Bangladesh. During the discussion, Sunil Gavaskar revealed that Sourav Ganguly has got the shirt which Thierry Henry had signed for him.

“I’ve been an Arsenal follower – I won’t say a fan so much – been a follower for a long time. I used to tease my son who is a Manchester United fan that I am an Arsenal fan and he would ask ‘Tell me 4 names from the Arsenal team’. I would say Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp,” said Gavaskar.

“Sourav Ganguly… hello? Where is that shirt? I am coming to Kolkata for the game on the 12th and Sourav, you better this time – I don’t want any excuses. You are no longer the BCCI president. You have a little more time on your hands. Find that shirt which Henry had signed for me and please give it to me when I come there on the 12th,” Gavaskar further added.

It’s worth noting that most of Indian players reserve special love for the game of Football. Both Gavaskar and Ganguly regularly follow football as well and as the FIFA World Cup has recently concluded, the discussions usually get inclined towards the game of football.

The Sri Lankan team will visit India in the month of January next year for three T20Is and three ODI games. The second ODI of the three-match series will be played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata and that’s the game about which Gavaskar reminded Ganguly. The former opener will be there as a part of the broadcasting team and hence has asked Ganguly to find the Thierry Henry signed shirt for him as he hilariously warned him.
