The ICC ODI World Cup 2023 is just a couple of months away and the Indian cricket fans are eagerly waiting to know the 15-member squad that will be selected for the marquee tournament. Ahead of the showpiece event, a star Indian player has come up with a prediction that fans will see him in the World Cup.
You’ll see me in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 for sure: Dinesh Karthik
Team India’s star keeper-batter Rishabh Pant will miss World Cup 2023 as he’s still recovering from the injuries he suffered during a car accident in December. In the absence of Pant, the selectors will face some dilemma to select the wicketkeeper for the marquee event.
Experienced keeper-batter Dinesh Karthik was tagged in a tweet on August 8 which asked the Twitter users to pick their first and second-choice wicketkeepers. Karthik who’s quite active on Twitter didn’t take much time and came up with a cryptic reply that stunned Indian cricket fans.
“You’ll see me in the World Cup, for sure, is what I can say,” Dinesh Karthik replied to his fan on Twitter.

The experienced keeper had featured for Team India in the 2019 ODI World Cup and 2022 T20 World Cup. However, his performance wasn’t up to the mark as expected by the team management and hence hasn’t got any more opportunities for the Men in Blue since the T20 World Cup.
While Dinesh Karthik did tweet that fans will see him in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, he’s actually a part of the commentary panel and not in the scheme of things for Team India’s 15-member squad that will feature in the marquee tournament.
In the absence of Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul might be the ideal choice for the role of wicketkeeper who can bat well in the middle order. However, Rahul too is recovering after undergoing thigh surgery and there’s no surety of his availability for the upcoming World Cup as well.
Hence, the team management is giving opportunity to both Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson in the West Indies tour. Both of them are the top contenders for the role of wicketkeeper in the Indian squad.

The Men in Blue will ideally need a wicketkeeper who could bat well in the middle order in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. While Sanju Samson is currently batting in the middle order, Ishan Kishan has got most of his opportunities as an opening batter.
