Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has been appointed as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in the Telangana Police. On Friday, he assumed the role under the supervision of the Director General of Police (DGP) in Telangana. A couple of months ago, the state’s Chief Minister, Revanth Reddy, announced that Siraj would join a Group-I government position, emphasizing the state’s commitment to supporting sports and sporting personalities.
DSP Mohammed Siraj gets 600 square feet of plot
As Mohammed Siraj joined the Telangana Police, he received perks from the government. The cricketer has been allotted a plot of 600 square yards (5400 square feet) on Road No. 78, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad—one of the most expensive commercial and residential locations in India. A 600-square-yard plot in this area is valued at around ₹18 crore.
In addition, Siraj will receive a monthly salary of approximately ₹1 lakh for his role as DSP. While this may not match his BCCI salary of ₹5 crore annually, serving as DSP will be as honorable to him as representing the Indian cricket team.
Is Siraj leaving Cricket after becoming DSP?
As news of Siraj joining the Telangana Police surfaced online, many were left confused. Some fans questioned whether Siraj was leaving cricket to serve as a DSP. To clarify, Siraj will continue his cricketing career as before. He was promised a residential plot and a government job after playing a crucial role in India’s 2024 T20 World Cup triumph.
Siraj can take over the DSP role permanently once his cricketing career concludes, but for now, he will maintain a balance between both fields. Meanwhile, he has been selected for India’s Test squad for the 3-match series against New Zealand, starting on October 16.
