Indian Premier League 2022 has been a rollercoaster ride from the beginning, as we saw the former champions like Chennai Super Kings and five-time title holders Mumbai Indians getting defeats to the new teams like Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants winning right from the start.
GT, LSG and RR have confirmed their places for the playoffs with first, second and third positions. Whereas, the battle for the 4th position still continues. RCB won gloriously last night against the table toppers, GT with 8 wickets in hand. Virat Kohli seemed to have come back from his atrocious form this year and scored a brilliant half-century and leading the RCB to the total very quickly.
Various unknown reports have claimed that three of the great T20 players of the IPL are likely to end their careers after this edition. Ambati Rayudu, Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo were the names which popped out of the sources. Ambati Rayudu had played brilliant cricket in the history of IPL for two of the most dominant teams in the league. This year as well he was looking good but a bit off than the previous year. Rayudu has played 12 matches for CSK so far, where he managed to make 271 runs with the highest score of 78. Recently he took to Twitter and tweeted that he is taking retirement from the IPL and wants to thank Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. But later he deleted the tweet.
“I am happy to announce that this will be my last IPL. I have had a wonderful time playing it and being a part of 2 great teams for 13 years,” tweeted Rayudu.
“Would love to sincerely thank Mumbai Indians and CSK for the wonderful journey.”
This is not the first time Rayudu has announced his retirement in an absurd manner. Another big name coming from the same Yellow Army is Dwayne Bravo. Bravo had taken retirement from International cricket last year in November post-loss against Srilanka in a series. DJ Bravo is a fan favourite at Chennai, and he proved his death-bowling class in the 2021 season as well. In IPL, Bravo has scalped 167 wickets, whereas he has scored 1537 runs with the bat. Similarly, this year DJ has proven his worth and shown his capabilities by taking a total of 16 wickets in 12 matches.
Kieron Pollard, the explosive all-rounder from Mumbai Indians has never been a spot away from thrilling excitement. Over the last couple of years, Pollard has proven to be one of the biggest and best assets of the franchise. Unfortunately, this year hasn’t been fruitful enough for Kieron Pollard as well as the Mumbai Indians. Pollard had also recently taken retirement from international cricket but still hasn’t confirmed anything about his IPL career.
The players have always proven to be an asset to their respective franchises from time to time but the fact that they would be retiring still hasn’t been confirmed by a trusted source.
