Rohit Sharma seen upset after Prithvi Shaw’s runout attempt accidentally hits him

Rohit Sharma seemed completely upset at Prithvi Shaw after he came in line between the stumps and a runout attempt by Shaw; the end of which saw the ball hit Sharma in his stomach rather than the stumps. It was a wild throw by Shaw who had not noticed Sharma standing in line of his throw. Television replays later caught a furious Sharma walking around with a hint of pain in his expression.

Prithvi Shaw’s Wild Throw; Experts Think Otherwise

It so happened on day one of the fourth test at Brisbane, Prithvi Shaw’s attempt at running out Matthew Wade met a rather disastrous end as his throw hit vice captain Rohit Sharma straight in the stomach. Shaw, dropped from the squad over his recent poor form, would have least expected to injure a teammate (not Rohit Sharma) after the team is already hit by injuries.

However, fielding experts are of the opinion that Shaw was not at fault here. The basic of fielding would require a player to step aside if he is in line of the stumps and the incoming throw. Rohit Sharma did not move and which is why Shaw’s throw came right at him.

Fans took to social media in expressing their humor at Shaw’s ‘wild throw’. Most of them hilariously trolled Shaw for finding an opportunity in injuring a teammate and getting a place for himself in the squad. Some were even furious over his insensibility in the runout attempt. Even a successful hit at the stumps could have seen the batsman safe. The most hilarious of posts on twitter saw the user write – “You all are far too critical. Prithvi Shaw was just aiming for Rohit Sharma’s stumps.”

Day One Honors Shared; Labuschagne Shines

Australia ended the first day’s play at 274/5, courtesy a fighting century from Marnus Labuschagne. India on the other hand will be content with their display after featuring a complete new bowling line-up. India started off well, sending off both Aussie openers with just 17 runs on the board. However, Labuschagne in the company of Steve Smith and then Matthew Wade, patiently held the innings together. Labuschagne was out for 108.
