India’s batting sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal let his bat do the talking during the Asian Games 2023 quarter-final clash against Nepal at Pingfeng Campus Cricket Field in Hangzhou. The talented southpaw who ventured out to bat in an important game, expressed himself in the best possible way as he took Nepal’s bowling attack to the cleaners with relative ease. Jaiswal accelerated the scoreboard by scoring runs at a strike rate in excess of 200.
While Jaiswal played the accelerator role, skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad ensured to support him by rotating the strike to him. The left and right opening combination worked wonders as the duo stitched together a 103-run liaison before the skipper fell prey to Dipendra Singh’s delivery in the penultimate ball of the 10th over.
After that, India lost Tilak Varma who was outsmarted by Sompal Kami whereas Jitesh Sharma was caught and bowled by Sandeep Lamichchane. After the fall of three wickets, Shivam Dube came out to bat to support Yashasvi Jaiswal who was looking extremely dangerous. During the 16th over, the fans witnessed a drama as Jaiswal was caught celebrating his century while he was actually one run short of his century.

During the fourth ball of the 16th over, Sompal Kami bowled at the right slot to Jaiswal and the latter quickly read the ball as he moved across the crease before scooping it towards the third man for a big shot. It seemed as if the ball was travelling a long way in the first place. Meanwhile, Jaiswal who was batting on 95* was pretty much convinced that the ball went across the rope for a six.
The youngster took off his helmet before raising his bat to celebrate his century but little did he know that the ball that travelled towards the third man bounced shortly before crossing the rope. Upon watching the TV replay, it was confirmed that it was ‘four’ and Jaiswal literally couldn’t believe himself as he kept both of his hands on his head.

However, it wasn’t much of a deal for him as he took a single by nudging the ball towards the square leg to complete a century. After teaching the triple-digit mark, he once again took his helmet off with a big smile on his face as he raised his bat to his teammates. India posted 202/4 in their quota of 20 overs and in reply, Nepal ended up at 179/9 in 20 overs as Ruturaj Gaikwad and Co won the game by 23 runs.
