RCB will kick-start their IPL 2026 campaign with a high-energy clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 28. Honestly, this is more than just an opening game. It feels like a statement opportunity. When you are the defending champions, every team wants to beat you, and RCB will have to handle that pressure right from ball one.
RCB will play five matches at their home ground, the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, and the decision to host two matches in Raipur adds an interesting twist. It is not a traditional RCB base, but it could work in their favour if they adapt quickly.
The early part of the tournament looks slightly tilted in RCB’s favour. Three home games in the first five matches is something every team would want. It gives them a chance to settle, build rhythm, and most importantly, gain points early.
The clash against Chennai Super Kings on April 5 stands out immediately. The Raipur leg is where things could get really interesting, as they will play against the Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders. These two matches could quietly decide whether RCB finishes in the top two or ends up struggling for a playoff spot.

That said, it’s not all smooth sailing. After the initial comfort of home games, RCB will have to deal with a tough stretch of away fixtures. Travelling to face the Lucknow Super Giants, followed by games in Raipur and then Dharamshala against the Punjab Kings, is not easy at all. Different pitches, different weather, and constant travel can break momentum if the team isn’t careful.
RCB will play two games starting at 3:30 PM IST against Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings. It is no secret that afternoon conditions can be actually draining, especially with the heat and slower pitches. As a result, RCB will need to manage their energy and strategies smartly in these games to come out on top.
If they can build early momentum and stay steady during the tough away run, there’s no reason why they can’t defend their title.
