In the 14th match of the Tata IPL, Mumbai Indians faced Kolkata Knight Riders. 5-time champions Mumbai Indians are yet to win a match in this IPL edition. In their third match, Mumbai Indians were desperate for the 2 points. Even after a bad start, they put a total of 161/4 and they were also putting their highest efforts with the ball.
Everything was going according to plan for MI. They got KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer early and later Tymal mills got the dangerous Andre Russell. KKR were still needed 61 runs to win in less than seven overs.
Mumbai Indians were seeing an easy win as they had a couple of overs left from Bumrah but Aussie skipper Pat Cummins has his own plan in his very first match of this season. He came to bat at no.7 and turn the game completely in KKR’s favor. He had conceded 49 runs off his four-over spell and it seemed like he came to bat just to complete the revenge. He took on one of the best white-ball bowlers Jasprit Bhumrah as well. He was brought by Rohit to dismiss Venkatesh Iyer, the only proper batter left for KKR. Well, Cummins had his own plans as he believed in his hitting ability and hit Bumrah for a six and a four. And now KKR only needed 35 runs in the last 5 overs.
Everyone was thinking that it was still hard for KKR to win the match as they didn’t have any batter left to bat. And then some unusual thing happen. Pat Cummins hit his fellow Aussie mate Daniel Sams for 35 runs in an over and finish the match. It was heart-wrenching for Mumbai fans as they conceded their third defeat in a row.Pat Cummins also become the joint record holder for the fastest fifty in 14 balls along with KL Rahul.

Rohit’s frustration was also visible in the post-match presentation as he was speaking as a losing captain where he showed his frustration. He wasn’t able to hear the question from Danny Morrison, one of the commentators, and asked irritatingly to increase the volume. “AWAAZ BADHAO YAAR USKA” Rohit Sharma was heard saying. However, he calmed himself down and answered some questions politely.
