Afghanistan’s white-ball tour of Bangladesh begins this week with the ODIs. The tour consists of 3 ODIs and 2 T20Is in total. All the three ODIs will be played in Chattogram’s Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium after which the teams will be moving to the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka for the two T20s. Talking about the forms of both sides, Bangladesh last played a white-ball series back in November 2021 against Pakistan. The side couldn’t win a single match in the 3-match T20 series. The last time Bangladesh played an ODI series was against Zimbabwe in July 2021. Bangladesh was handed a defeat by the lower-ranked side, though they managed to win the series 2-1.
Afghanistan has just defeated Netherlands 3-0 in an ODI series last month. The side last played a bilateral T20 series against Zimbabwe in March 2021. Afghanistan managed to win all the games of the 3-match series.
Afghanistan has announced both their ODI & T20 squads for the Tour while Bangladesh is yet to announce their squad for the T20Is. Hashmatullah Shahidi will be leading the Afghans in the ODIs while Mohammed Nabi will be their skipper for the T20Is. Tamim Iqbal, on the other hand, will be seen leading Bangladesh.
It is worth mentioning that the spectators might be seen in the stadiums in Bangladesh for the upcoming matches. As per the reports, the Bangladesh Cricket Board is keen to allow at least 50% crowd into the stadiums.
