Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah in an official statement dated December 1 confirmed the appointment of a three-member CAC panel that will deal with the process of picking Team India’s new selection committee in the upcoming weeks.
Notably, Chetan Sharma’s entire five-man selection panel was thrown out the exit door owing to Team India’s consistent poor showings in multi-team cricket tournaments.

Following the bold move, reigning BCCI president Roger Binny now is looking to fill the void that the mass sacking has created.
For that matter, the BCCI has elected CAC (Cricket Advisory Committee) that’ll be tasked with the appointment of Team India’s revamped Selection Committee. It comprises of 3 former Team India cricketers: Mr. Jatin Paranjape, Mr. Ashok Malhotra and Ms. Sulakshana Naik.

Ms. Sulakshana Naik plied her trade as a wk-batter and is the most accomplished of the troika, having represented Team India Women in 79 internationals across a decade-long career at the highest level.
Paranjape played 4 ODIs and 64 FCs as a middle-order bat while Malhotra (who was earlier chief of Indian Cricketers’ Association) represented the side in 7 tests, 20 ODIs and 154 First-class matches.
The immediate task for the CAC is to elect a competent selection committee for the BCCI after the last 2 panels (headed by MSK Prasad and Chetan Sharma) couldn’t give the desired output.
The axe fell on Chetan and his 4 mates for rushing KL Rahul into the T20 WC squad sans match practice and giving far too much importance to IPL performances. The two issues, along with some confused team selection from Rohit left Team India crownless at the showpiece event.
The selection and replacement of coaches for both Men and Women’s team will also be one of the major responsibilities of the three CAC members BCCI has vested in.
