KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty’s marriage rumors have come true. The cricketer is all set to marry the Bollywood actress in January 2023. The wedding venue and dates have been decided and KL Rahul’s application to grant him leave for the special occasion has been approved by BCCI. However, the cricketer cited the reason as ‘personal work’ but a report from News18 has confirmed that he wants off days for his wedding.
BCCI grants leave to KL Rahul for his marriage
The wedding is reportedly scheduled to take place in Sunil Shetty’s bungalow in Khandala. The marriage is supposed to be a private ceremony that will be attended by close friends and relatives of Rahul and Athiya. As the marriage is in January, the vice-captain of India is going to miss the T20I and ODI series vs Sri Lanka.
A BCCI source confirmed the news. “KL informed me a few days back that he will marry Athiya next year. After that, a close family member from the girl’s side also told me the same. After the T20 World Cup, the team will go for a New Zealand tour and after this, the wedding will take place in Maharashtra.,” says the report.
The rumours of KL Rahul’s relationship with Athiya started in 2018 and both accepted it publicly. Athiya accompanied the batsman on his many tours for the Indian team. During IPL 2022, the actress with her father occasionally attended the Lucknow Super Giants team’s games which Rahul captained. The media many times asked Sunil Shetty about Athiya and Rahul’s wedding plans. But the actor dodged the question saying it’s all up to the children.
KL Rahul is currently part of the Indian team and will play ODI and Test series in Bangladesh. The tour will conclude on December 26, after which KL Rahul will get the window for his marriage with ladylove Athiya Shetty. The upcoming series is going to be crucial for the keeper-batter as he has faced criticism recently. Pundits have targeted his defensive approach while batting. It will be interesting to see how he fares on India’s tour of Bangladesh.
