Team India has tasted a lot of success and reached new heights in the recent past. Ever since Ravi Shastri became the head coach of the team, they have done exceptionally well in international cricket irrespective of the format. The duo of Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri has been very successful, however Shastri’s tenure is coming to an end soon. To fill the India head coach’s position, BCCI is likely to approach Anil Kumble, India’s former spinner.
BCCI is likely to approach Anil Kumble for Head Coach’s post
Last week has been a very eventful period for Indian cricket with the cancellation of the Manchester Test and then Kohli stepping down as the T20I skipper. Kohli has made up his mind to leave T20I captaincy following the T20 World Cup. Ravi Shastri’s tenure as the head coach is also coming to an end after the T20 World Cup and BCCI is likely to approach Anil Kumble for the same position.
For the uninitiated, the Jumbo as he is fondly called, Anil Kumble was appointed as Team India’s head coach in 2016 as well, but differences of opinions between him and Kohli led to his resignation prematurely.
Ravi Shastri has been a very successful head coach for the Indian team, but after his tenure ends, the team will be in need of a head coach. Therefore, BCCI is likely to approach Anil Kumble to fill in the position.

If reports are to be believed, BCCI also approached Sri Lankan great Mahela Jayawardena for the head coach position, however, he didn’t show any interest in it. Following this, BCCI is set to approach the ace spinner for the important role in team India. The Indian players are currently gearing up for the second leg of IPL 2021 which is starting from 19th September. The tournament will help the players to prepare for the upcoming T20I World Cup.
