Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team kick-started their World Cup 2023 campaign with a six-wicket win over Australia in Chennai. The Men in Blue had to go through hiccups early on in the run-chase before they got a great deal of assistance and recovery from KL Rahul (97*) and Virat Kohli (85). The duo changed the entire complexion of the game with a match-winning 165-run partnership for the fourth wicket.
After Virat Kohli’s departure, KL Rahul ensured to seal the deal alongside Hardik Pandya. India will lock horns with the Afghanistan cricket team on October 11, Wednesday at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. After that, the Men in Blue will cross swords with their arch-rivals, Pakistan on October 14, Saturday at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The fans are curiously looking forward to the roller coaster ride in the days to come.
BCCI treasurer denies rumours of India donning Orange Jersey against Pakistan
Meanwhile, in the latest development, the BCCI treasurer Ashish Shelar dismissed the rumours of Team India sporting the bright orange-coloured jersey in the group stage clash against Pakistan for the ODI World Cup 2023. Ahead of the mega tournament, Adidas unveiled the official blue jersey and besides that, it also showcased the bold new saffron-coloured outfits, but to be used solely for practice sessions.
Ever since the Indian players sported the bold new orange outfit, speculations were rife that the Indian cricketers would wear the same outfit in the mega tournament. The reports stated that Indian players will be wearing the brand new orange-coloured jersey as an alternate kit against Pakistan on October 14 but the BCCI treasurer rubbished the reports once and for all by clarifying it recently.
“We categorically dismiss the media reports that Team India will be donning an alternative match kit against Pakistan. These reports are absolutely baseless and a work of someone’s imagination. The Men in Blue will sport India colours – Blue at ICC Cricket World Cup 2023,” Shelar was quoted by Indian Express.
Apart from India, Pakistan also kick-started their campaign with a win over the Netherlands. Babar Azam and Co got the better of the Dutch cricket team by 81 runs at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad recently.
