Team India’s explosive batter Deepak Hooda played a match-winning knock against Sri Lanka in the first T20I played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

However, he lost his cool and abused the on-field umpire as the game got intense.

Deepak Hooda gets angry at Umpire, video goes viral on social media

Team India didn’t get a good start against Sri Lanka in the first T20I as they lost the first four wickets just after the 10th over and they were in a spot of bother when Deepak Hooda came in to bat at the number sixth spot. Hooda played a crucial knock which turned out to be match-winning for the Indian team.

However, he lost his calm during the game during the 18th over of the game. Hooda left Kasun Rajitha’s delivery alone in hopes of getting a wide call but the on-field umpire KN Ananthapadmanabhan did not call it a wide as Deepak Hooda had taken a step across outside off.

Hooda then lost his cool at this decision and was heard and seen abusing ‘behen ke l***’, towards the umpire. The 27-year-old batter then got into an argument with the umpire on the very next delivery.

After scoring a quick fire 41 off just 23 deliveries Hooda said at the post-match press conference. “ I was pretty clear in my mind that if we lose early wickets we have to build a partnership and when you are batting lower down the order at No.6, for a situation like that, being a cricketer, you have to be ready for that. A collapse can happen at any time.”

“(But) I don’t think it was a collapse in the true sense as we were in a good position. Yes, we lost one or two extra wickets but I think that is the role of a No. 6 and No. 7 batter (to come and bat with confidence) be it the first or the second match. It’s a good win,” the Baroda batter further added.

After posting a competitive total of 162 runs, Team India eventually won the game as Sri Lanka failed to chase down India’s total and fell short by just two runs.
