The English team came up with a plan to deal with Indian middle order and lower order in the 5th Test which is currently being played in Edgbaston. Team India had an upper hand in the match till the 3rd Day but the fourth day belonged to England who are on course to win the match. Brendon McCullum gives tip to his bowlers
The Indian batsmen, especially Iyer fell prey to a well-planned move by the English bowlers on Day 4 of the series-deciding Test match. After the fall of Pujara’s wicket, Shreyas Iyer walked in to support the well-set Rishabh Pant. As soon as Iyer arrived on the crease, England new head coach Brendon McCullum gives tip to his bowlers to try and bowl short-pitch deliveries.
As per the instruction, Iyer was bombarded with short-pitch deliveries which he tried to pull, however wasn’t as successful. The Indian batsman tried to play attacking shots, but was ultimately fell right into the trap which the English team had set. It is to note that McCullum was the coach of KKR and knows the ins and outs of Iyer’s batting. Naturally, Brendon McCullum gives tip to English bowlers to bowl him short stuff.

The pictures of McCullum instructing his bowlers from the balcony have gone viral. The England head coach can be seen gesturing towards the bowlers on the field to execute the short deliveries. It was a well-made plan and Iyer fell right into it. The batsman played a pull shot which went directly to Matty Potts. Iyer couldn’t really contribute much in both the innings as he was dismissed on 15 and 19 in first and second inning respectively. Team India was all-out on 245 runs and gave a 378-run target to England.
