Brendon McCullum who has donned the hat of the head coach for England believes that if there is anyone who can break Brian Lara’s 400-run record, it’s none other than Rohit Sharma.

Brendon McCullum started his tenure as the head coach for England with a victory over New Zealand. England has revamped their team and management a bit which saw McCullum taking on coaching duties while Ben Stokes was announced as the new regular Test captain for the English side. The English head coach is quite imperative about the fact that Rohit Sharma has the ability to surpass Brian Lara’s 400-run record.
It was in the year 2004 when the Windies great Brian Lara etched his name in the book of records when he played a marathon inning of 400 runs against England. It was the first time when 400-run mark had been breached and the special feat has never been repeated in Test cricket since then. However, Brendon McCullum opines that Rohit Sharma with his class batting is capable of breaking Lara’s record.
Rohit Sharma and other senior players are currently resting while the others are playing a 5-match T20I series against South Africa. The first match which took place on Friday saw team Indian losing the match. The second match of the series will be played on Sunday and the Indian team would love to come up with an inspiring performance.

It is to note that KL Rahul was first announced as the captain for the series, but he was ruled out later due to an injury. In his absence, Rishabh Pant is leading the side. The 5-match T20I series will end on 19th June.
