Ireland is scheduled to take on New Zealand in the second ODI match on Tuesday (July 12) at The Village in Dublin.

The Black Caps narrowly won against the Andrew Balbirnie-led side in the first ODI at the Village. The in-form Harry Tector scored a splendorous 113 to guide the hosts to 300 in the first innings. Curtis Campher played a vital contribution with 43 runs in 47 balls. 

Senior batter Martin  Guptill set the chase for New Zealand with his 38th ODI half-century, which included six fours and a six. After Guptill’s departure in the 22nd over,  all-rounder Michael Bracewell rose to the occasion and notched up a sparkling hundred (127*), his maiden, only in his fourth innings in the format. 

Bracewell hammered 10 fours and seven sixes, batting at a strike rate of 154.88, to take the visitors past the finishing line and take a 1-0 lead in the series. 

Both the teams will move to Castle Avenue also known as the Clontarf Cricket Club. The last two ODIs of the three-match series will be held at this venue. 

IRE vs NZ 2nd ODI: Records and Pitch Report at The Village

A total of 24 ODI matches have been successfully hosted at The Village with just one game resulting in a tie. Ireland and New Zealand will face each other for the first time at this venue.

However, New Zealand has played a couple of matches at this stadium against Bangladesh in the 2017 tri-nation series along with Ireland as the host. New Zealand won by four wickets in a round-robin game but lost the final to Bangladesh by five wickets.

By the records, one can suggest that the ground has the status of low-scoring matches. So the team that wins the toss usually opts to bowl and restrict the opponent to a moderate total. The pitch is also said to benefit the pace bowlers more than the spinners.
