Chetan Sharma retained his position as chief selector in BCCI with a new panel. BCCI decided to stick with Chetan Sharma’s services as he and Dravid are in BCCI’s main plan to get the 2023 World Cup. Considering the big ODI World Cup coming ahead this year, changes in the chief selection committee won’t be a smart move.
5 candidates were chosen by the BCCI’s Cricket advisory
The BCCI’s cricket advisory committee members Ashok Malhotra, Sulaksha Naik, and Jatin Paranjape selected the 5 members of the Selection Committee after reviewing 600 applications.
BCCI posted the job vacancy for the BCCI selection committee on their official website back on November 18 after the miserable T20 World Cup exit. BCCI sacked the old panel with immediate effect and didn’t appoint new members for the time being.
Just after the painful semifinal exit, BCCI posted an advertisement for a new selection committee on the website but they didn’t replace the old members till the end of 2022.
Chetan Sharma’s committee panel was given an extension by BCCI till the time they didn’t find a suitable replacement.
Chetan Sharma is on BCCI’s road to the 2023 World Cup
After Chetan Sharma attended the BCCI’s review meeting about the ODI World Cup 2023 rumors started popping up that he will retain his position. Later BCCI confirmed that Chetan will continue with a new set of members this time.

Cricketer-turned-actor Salil Ankola is part of the new selection committee
Among the 5 new members of the BCCI selection committee, one name is Sahil Ankola. Salil Ankola has played 20 ODIs and 1 Test match for India. He was more famous for his acting career than his cricket career itself.
Salil is a notable name on the silver screen of India. He was a medium pace bowler of his time and he made his debut in 1989.

The latest panel of BCCI has an experience in 48 Test matches and 95 ODIs
The newly hired committee members have a decent amount of experience in International cricket. Notable name of the committee Sharath has played 139 first-class matches. He averages around 51.17 in domestic cricket but never played for India.
