Sunday night’s high-stake clash between Afghanistan and New Zealand ended up as a bitter disappointment, especially for an Asian country who’ve been so passionate about their cricket. There are, of course, two particular countries here that fit this description aptly; one being Afghanistan, who endured a thumping 8-wicket defeat against the spirited Blackcaps to end their WT20 2021 campaign.
New Zealand’s victory against Afghanistan ends India’s WT20 dreams
But the other team that had a lot riding on the result of this particular game was India. Leading up to this match, India desperately needed Afghanistan to beat New Zealand to stay in contention for a semi-final spot. The win against Afghanistan, however, fetched New Zealand the two-points they required to confirm their place in the tournament knockouts.
So regardless of how big a win India manage to register against Namibia in their last league stage match, the players will be- to quote India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja- “packing up their bags and preparing for the long flight back home”.
It’s only fair that on the occasion of such a high-pressure match, social media would be teeming with jokes and memes to lighten up the moods of all the anxious fans. Pakistani social accounts, for one thing, seemed to be quite enjoying mocking the plight of their cross-border neighbors. Even before the Afghanistan-New Zealand games could commence, fans across both sides of the border had quite a bit of banter and conversation going on between themselves.
Wasim Jaffer cheekily hits back at Pakistani page trying to troll India fans
When it comes to such social media scuffles, former India batsman Wasim Jaffer always finds a way to stay in the limelight. While several Pakistan-based trolls and fans were cracking jokes and circulating all sorts of polls to India fans, Wasim had come up with a very clever reply to shut all of them down in style.
A verified Twitter page called Cricket Pakistan was curious to know about the Indian fans’ emotions during the AFG-NZ clash. Wasim, keeping up with his witty social media banter, came up with a clever response.
We’ll lead you with a hint to crack the joke: India and Pakistan’s record in the world cup reads India, 12 vs Pakistan, 1.
Had a heavy lunch between 12-1, still feeling full 😉 #NZvsAfg #T20WorldCup https://t.co/wJ58RUSnh0

To one Pakistan fan’s credit though, they actually managed to offer Wasim a witty and healthy recommendation as to how many steps to walk after a full lunch. Well played, we must say!
Walk 87-70 steps after a heavy meal, You will feel bit better !
