The four-times Indian Premier league (IPL) champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had a woeful start to their 2022 campaign. Ravindra Jadeja was given the responsibility of capacity after MS Dhoni decided to step down after 13 years of leading the side to success.
The defending champions have managed only three wins in their first ten games so far this season. The are currently ninth in the points standings but it is not yet over for them as they are mathematically still there in the tournament. However, their chances of making it to the top 4 are hanging by a thread.
Notably, the MS Dhoni-led side is currently placed in the ninth position in the IPL 2022 points table with just six points from 10 games and needs to win all its remaining games and depend on the results of other matches to progress to the next stage.
There are still two play off spots left up for grasp as the two new franchises are sitting on top of the pile. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Gujarat Titans (GT) are comfortably placed in the race to playoffs with 16 points each.
Rajasthan Royals (RR) got back to winning ways after losing two games on the trot as they defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS). RR have 14 points and they are third in the points table. Meanwhile, RCB are fourth in the tally with 12 points.
This is how CSK can qualify for the top 4
The road to top 4 is very tricky and CSK will have to win all of their remaining four league stage matches to get to the magical figure of 14 points. And not only that they will also have to make sure that they win these matches by big margins to improve their net run rate, which can prove crucial going forward.
But their fate also depends on other teams if they want stand a chance of finishing in the top 4. The CSK faithfuls will especially want RCB to lose their remaining games as the Faf du Plessis-led side is close to getting 14 points. DC , SRH and PBKS all have an outside chance to make it into top 4 and their case is much more stronger than CSK.
