Chepauk Stadium will host its last Cricket World Cup 2023 match on October 27. Dangerous-looking South Africa will be in front of Babar Azam’s troops who are going through a rough patch. It will be the 6th game for both sides in the ongoing tournament and from this stage, every game will be a must-win encounter. Meanwhile, the fans would like to know stats and analytics regarding Chennai Cricket Stadium such as pitch reports, ODI records at Chepauk, and the last World Cup match scorecard at the venue. Here’s all you need to know about MA Chidambaram Stadium Chennai ahead of the South Africa vs Pakistan match.

Chepauk hosted the opening match of CWC 2023, between India and Australia which turned out to be a low-scoring game as Australian batsmen kneeled before Indian bowlers at a score of 199. The pitch of the Chennai Cricket Stadium has favored spinners in this World Cup. In the four games, a score of 300 has not been touched at Chennai.

South Africa has posted 380+ in their last two games and it will be interesting to watch their batting performance in the tough Chennai pitch. On the other hand, Pakistan played their last game in Chennai ground and despite scoring 282, the Babar Azam-led side couldn’t stop the Afghan batters from chasing it.

Chennai Cricket Stadium Pitch Report for PAK vs SA, CWC Match

The pitch of Chennai is a well-balanced surface where both batters and bowlers share an equal opportunity to shine. Bowling first has been effective in the recent matches at Chepauk, so, again we may see the same decision from the team who will win the toss.

Usually, the Chennai pitch is known to have a spin-friendly nature. Spinners are expected to bowl more than 20 overs during the PAK vs SA match, so the Proteas side may bring one more spinner in the XI as they played the last game with Keshav Maharaj as the lone spinner. Skipper Aiden Markram may also roll his arm over looking at the conditions.

On the other hand, in the middle overs, the role of Shadab Khan and Usma Mir is going to be crucial for the Pakistan side. However, Pak spinners struggled in the last game as Afghanistan chased a 283-run target losing only 2 wickets.
