Batting at No.6, Karthik steadied the innings and scored a crucial 53 off 39 balls, helping his team reach a respectable total of 150.

During his innings, the 39-year-old Indian keeper-batter turned back the clock and switched to vintage mode. In the 13th over, he smashed three consecutive sixes to off-spinner Wihan Lubbe. Karthik executed three slog sweeps on the second, third, and fourth deliveries of the over and added 18 runs to the total.

This innings must have brought some relief to Dinesh Karthik, as his bat had remained quiet in the tournament until now. Before this knock, he had managed only 44 runs in five innings which raised questions about his place in the playing XI. However, with this performance, Karthik has shown that he still can make an impact.
However, Dinesh Karthik’s gritty 53-run knock went in vain as Joburg Super Kings’ captain Faf du Plessis overshadowed it with a blistering innings. Du Plessis smashed 87 off 55 balls, guiding his team to a comfortable 7-wicket victory and keeping their playoff hopes alive.

On the other hand, the loss didn’t impact Paarl Royals much, as they remain at the top of the table and have already secured a playoff spot.
