Yash Dayal, the left-arm pacer, was constant for the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the recently concluded Indian Premier League season (IPL 2022). The team, led by Hardik Pandya made history by winning the title in its first season. However, in an interview with ESPNcricinfo, Yash applauded Hardik Pandya for remaining calm and focused while leading the side in the tournament. He also stated that the veteran all-rounder would always support the bowler’s strategies, and his strategy gave confidence in him.
Yash Dayal commented on Hardik Pandya’s captaincy: “Hardik Pandya is composed and assured, and he understands what to do at each point in the campaign. He is the skipper of a bowling team. If you believe in yourself, he will let you make your own choices. This enhances a bowler’s trust even more. He is, without a doubt, the best leader I have ever played for.”
Meanwhile, Yash Dayal also shared how GT head coach Ashish Nehra supported him in the IPL 2022. He also added that the former bowler trained him on the value of sticking to the fundamentals instead of attempting too many things all together as well.
“Ashish Nehra has been a huge supporter of mine since the start. I used to experiment with new a variety of interesting things. But Ashish sir learnt me to be centered and focused, and he tried to teach me some basic intentions of following without putting too much pressure on myself. It is a highly competitive level of cricket, so you must be as well,” he concluded.
